The BKB Checker Tool

The BKB Checker Tool tells you which spells go through Black King Bar. Put in the enemy heroes and the golden shield shows how many of their spells BKB blocks, which ones pierce it anyway and which ones only pierce when upgraded. Axe bought BKB once. Then Axe met his own Berserker's Call. It went right through.

1. Add up to five enemy heroes with the slots, or press Random.
2. Read the shield: how many enemy spells BKB blocks. Red spells fly right through, grey ones bounce off.
3. Switch to All piercing spells to search every spell that pierces BKB, by hero, name or effect like stun or silence.

BKB blocks most things. Not Axe. Nothing blocks Axe.

What BKB does: debuff immunity explained

Black King Bar's active, Avatar, applies a basic dispel and makes you debuff immune: 60% magic resistance, immunity to pure and reflected damage, and negative effects from enemy spells stop working. It costs 4,050 gold, 50 mana and has a 95-second cooldown. The duration drops with every use: 9s, 8s, 7s.

Debuff immunity stops these effects while it lasts:

• Stuns and sleeps
• Silences, mutes and breaks
• Disarms and blinds
• Hexes and cyclones
• Forced movement
• Fears and taunts
• Roots and leashes
• Slows and stat reductions

Spells that pierce debuff immunity ignore all of that and work as if you had no BKB. Many of them are ultimates: 37 of the 65 fully piercing spells are ultimates.

Enchant RemnantEarth Spirit

Only the stun aspect is prevented by debuff immunity. The unit still stays Hidden and Invulnerable .

Spear of MarsMars

The forced movement is instantly canceled. However, if the spear connects with an obstactle, the debuff is still placed as if the unit was dragged along. The debuff is still subjected to debuff immunity.

Mystic SnakeMedusa

The damage and slow debuff are affected by debuff immunity. When upgraded, does not place the Stone Gaze debuff on debuff immune enemies.

Purifying FlamesOracle

Initial damage is reduced by debuff immunity, but the heal over time still occurs and is unaffected.

Roll UpPangolier

The forced movement is instantly canceled. The damage is reduced, however the stun debuff is not placed at all.

Rolling ThunderPangolier

The forced movement is instantly canceled. The damage is reduced, however the stun debuff is not placed at all.

Smoke ScreenRiki

Does not silence and blind debuff immune enemies. When upgraded, does not reduce armor of debuff immune enemies, but still makes them untargetable to allies.

Does not blind or reduce max health of debuff immune units. Does reduce the model size of debuff immune units.

Winter's CurseWinter Wyvern

Pierces debuff immunity on the primary target. Does not affect debuff immune secondary units.

MaledictWitch Doctor

Burst and periodic damage are dealt to debuff immune enemy, however the damage is reduced by % resistance from debuff immune.

When the tooltip is wrong

The in-game tooltip says “Pierces debuff immunity: No” for Little Friends (Enchantress) and Liquid Fire (Jakiro), but in the game they go through BKB. Liquipedia also lists these as misleading: Liquid Fire (Jakiro), Pig, Out! (Pig Pole), Fowl Play (Shadow Shaman). The tool marks them with a blue “tooltip says no”.

The tooltip lies. Axe never lies. Axe says: you will die. Axe is honest.
