The Magic Resistance Calculator Tool stacks your Dota 2 magic resistance: base value, Cloak, Pipe, Glimmer Cape, Mage Slayer, Eternal Shroud and BKB, how much of a spell gets through and why every item adds less.

This tool is created with love for Dota 2 and for helping you to play better every day and rank up! Have Fun and Enjoy!

The Magic Resistance Calculator Tool stacks your magic resistance layer by layer: your hero's base value, then every item. It shows how much of an enemy spell still hits you and why the third shield blocks less than the first. Axe once wore three Cloaks. He still got hit. Less, but still.

Magic resistance in 10 seconds
Shields on shields. Each one smaller. Axe still likes shields.
Example: Axe at level 15 has 40 Intelligence, so 29% base. With a Cloak and a Pipe of Insight he ends at 53.5%, not 67%. A 300 damage nuke hits him for 140.
The physical side works with armor instead: the Armor & HP Calculator shows physical and magical HP side by side.
Every new source blocks a share of the damage that is still left. The more you already have, the less the next item adds. Here is what one Cloak (18%) adds on top of different starting values:
That is why magic resistance never reaches 100% from stacking percentages. It also means the first magic resistance item is the best value for your gold.
First shield: great. Fifth shield: meh. Axe buys one shield and a bigger axe.
Cheapest magic resistance: Cloak gives 20% per 1,000 gold. The bigger items cost more per percent because they also give other stats and actives. Eternal Shroud grows up to 41% when it keeps taking spells.
What else do these items give? The Item Comparison lines up Pipe of Insight, BKB and every other item stat by stat.
Is their damage even magical? The Damage Type Lookup sorts an enemy lineup into physical, magical and pure before you buy the Cloak.

Yes, but it multiplies instead of adding up. Each source blocks its share of the damage that is still left. 40 Intelligence Axe at level 15 (29%) with a Cloak (18%) and a Pipe of Insight (20%) has 53.5%, not 67%.
25% for every hero, plus 0.1% for every point of Intelligence. So 10 Intelligence give 1% more.
Cloak (18%), Mage Slayer (18%), Glimmer Cape (20%), Pipe of Insight (20%), Eternal Shroud (20%), Black King Bar (active, 60%). Pipe of Insight also gives allies 8% with its aura.
60% while its active is on, together with debuff immunity. It multiplies with your other magic resistance like every other source.
With abilities like Elder Titan's Natural Order, Keeper of the Light's Solar Bind, Necrophos's Death Seeker, Shadow Fiend's Requiem of Souls, Techies's Proximity Mines, Viper's Poison Attack. Veil of Discord makes the target take 10% more spell damage taken, Ethereal Blade makes the target take 30% more magic damage taken (ethereal).
Without items, the hero with the most Intelligence: Pugna reaches 42.8% at level 30. With abilities, Lifestealer (Rage, 80%) and Pangolier (Roll Up, 80%) and Pangolier (Rolling Thunder, 80%) and Ringmaster (Escape Act, 80%) get the most for a short time.
