The Random Hero Picker Tool

The Random Hero Picker Tool spins a random Dota 2 hero for you, from all 127 heroes or only from the ones you want. Bored of your usual picks, stuck in a hero pool of three, or just feeling brave? Spin. Axe spins everything. Mostly himself.

1. Pick your filters or leave them empty: attribute, melee or ranged, complexity and role. The counter shows how many heroes are left.
2. Hit Spin (or the space bar). The reel runs and lands on your hero with roles, complexity and a link to builds.
3. Not happy? Ban the hero and spin again, or switch to Team of 5 for a whole random lineup and reroll single slots.

No repeats keeps heroes you already got out of the pot until everyone has had a turn. The small circles on the right are your last picks, click one to see it again.

Dota 2 random hero: what the Random button gives you

In All Pick there is a Random button next to the hero grid. Click it and the game locks in a random hero for you. As a thank you for being brave, you get a free Enchanted Mango and a free Faerie Fire. You can not sell them.

• You can only random during the first pick phase, and not in the last 10 seconds of it.
• Only two players on each team can random in All Pick.
• The Random button skips your 25 least played heroes, so it will not throw you on a hero you never touched.
• In Turbo randoming gives no bonus items.

The Random Hero Picker Tool has no such limits. Use it before the game to decide what to pick, to plan a random challenge with friends or to find heroes you have never played.

Random hero generator with filters: attribute, role and complexity

A random hero is fun. A random hero that fits your role is useful. The filters use Valve’s own hero data, so a “Support” is a hero Valve lists as a support.

• Attribute: 36 Strength, 35 Agility, 34 Intelligence, 22 Universal.
• Attack: 62 melee and 65 ranged heroes.
• Complexity: 55 easy heroes with one star, 59 with two stars and 13 hard ones with three.
• Role: every hero Valve gives this role, from a little to a lot. The result card shows how strong the hero is in each role.

Random game modes in Dota 2

Dota 2 has a few modes where chance picks for you, or at least helps.

Somebody writes "rat" or "pma" in chat? Look it up in the Dota 2 Slang Dictionary.

Luck is not your thing? The Hero Quiz asks 8 questions and shows the hero that fits your personality.

Rolled heroes you want to keep trying? The Hero Grid Generator gives them their own row in the hero picker, as a file you drop into Steam.

Random hero challenges to try

1. Five-stack all random. Switch to Team of 5, spin once, everybody plays what they get. No trades. Axe does not trade.
2. Ban your comfort picks. Spin, ban every hero you already play a lot, spin again. Now you are learning.
3. Three-star week. Filter for complexity three and play one of them every day.
4. New role. Always carry? Filter for Support and spin. Your supports will thank you. Maybe.
5. One attribute only. Pick one attribute and play only those heroes for a week.

Random heroes show you fast what you do not know yet. Knowing which of your habits costs games is the next step. Axe's habit is spinning until he gets Axe.
