Welcome to Axe's Workshop: Who We Are and What This Blog Is For
Welcome to Axe’s Workshop, the blog of dota2-tools.com. Here we fix the things that stand between you and a good game of Dota 2: stutter, crashes, lag, wrong settings. Our tools answer one question fast. The blog takes the time for the problems that need more than one tool. Axe opened the workshop himself. With his axe. Through the ribbon. And the workbench.
Who is behind dota2-tools.com?
We are Kevin and Claudio, two Dota 2 players from Germany. We have played Dota for about 20 years, since the first DotA map in Warcraft III, and we still play it way too much. Kevin plays mid and offlane, Claudio is the carry. Axe is our mascot and plays offlane. Always.

Why a Dota 2 blog next to the tools?
Every tool on this site answers one question in seconds: when Roshan comes back, which spells go through BKB, what your Friend ID is. But some problems are not one question. If Dota 2 stutters, crashes or lags, you need to find the cause first, and then the fix that fits your PC.
That is what the blog is for. Each post walks you through one problem, step by step, and points to the tools that help, like the Launch Options Generator Tool or the Console Commands Lookup Tool.
Axe wanted to call it “Axe Hits Things Until They Work”. The team said the name was too long. Axe hit the team. Then they agreed on Axe’s Workshop.
What you find in Axe’s Workshop
Two kinds of posts, both about your own Dota 2 setup:
- When Dota 2 stutters or drops FPS
- When the game crashes or will not start
- When lag and packet loss ruin fights
- Settings that are worth changing
- Server, region and language
- Replays, lobbies and more
What you will not find here: hero guides, item builds, ranks and the pro scene. Those live on our partner sites, so nothing is written twice. More on that below.
How we write every post
- Real sources. Commands, settings and menu paths come from the game itself, Valve, Steam Support and pages like Liquipedia. If we cannot back it, it does not go in.
- No magic numbers. We do not promise “+50 FPS”. Every PC is different, so we show you how to measure it yourself.
- Short first, details after. Every fix post starts with a quick checklist. If that solves it, you can go back to your game.
- Axe tests it. By hitting it. If it still works afterwards, it gets published.
Part of a small Dota 2 network
dota2-tools.com is one of four Dota 2 sites made by the same team. Each one does one job, and they link to each other where it helps:
Ranking up, heroes and items on Dota2Freaks, daily news on Dota2News, arcana prices on Dota2Arcana, and tools plus this blog here. All four on one page: our Dota 2 network.
